03 Durango w/uninvted horn sound Sign In

I have a 2003 Dodge Durango w/130,000 miles on it. It has the 4.7 in it.This mourning while sitting in the garage, the horn went off briefly several times. The vehicle is equipped with remote start. The vehicle has not had any electrical issues before. The wife is swinging by Auto Zone today to have the battery checked.any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Could be a lot of things like...

  • Any trigger component of an alarm system
  • horn relay
  • horn switch
  • short in wiring

I would start out by unplugged the horn wire going up into the steering column and see if it happens again. Of course you will be without a horn in the meantime.

? Had you just remote started it before that? IDK - some of those may be a warning to alert you of something wrong like it's been running long enough unattended and I think even aftermarket junk will only run so long before it knows key is in it with a person,

It tells you the problem is between there and the steering wheel, probably the switch. Just don't be shocked if you find out the switch might only be sold as part of a new air bag. That's common.

No,it hadn`t been touched for the day yet.It was just sitting in the garage. The keys were in it(pulled out slightly to keep from dinging with the door open), This is how it sits every night as it is garage kept.
