1996 olds 98 rear suspension sags Sign In

The rear suspension on my 96 olds 98 sags in the rear. Im sure the pump isn't working and that the air stuts need replaced. Not wanting to dump a bunch of money in this car, is there a after market air strut that i could air up manually? This car has 130k and all im after is to be able to put a few things in the trunk and maybe someone in the the backseat without dragging my hith receiver. It also has springs in the rear, but i dont want to use those spring spacers because i hear they can break the springs . any info would be great.

Yes, Monroe makes replacement air struts that can be either hooking into the factory pump and leveling system or you can use the universal air kit to make them manual.

I know its alot to ask, but is there anyway you could provide me a part numberfor both the air stuts and universal kit. My local Auto Zone employees are clueless and cant seem to figure out what I want. Thanks!

It's going to be the only thing they carry anyway. They certainly don't carry OEM so they either have Monroe or Gabriel.

All they do is look it up by application and it will show what they have available.

The strut part number is 71798
The top air kit ties into the auto level system, the bottom one is just a manual fill.

Just bought the new air (manual hose) kit from NAPA for about $14 bucks - in stock!
