1998 buick starting problems

i have a 1998 buick lesabre, when i start it i have to hold my foot to the floor, almost like it is flooded. some times after it starts i have to hold my foot on the gas a little until it warms up, if i take it off the gas to early it will stall, once it warms up it will stay running on its own and it seems to run fine. this is getting frustrating, i have changed a few sensors now with no luck. the sensors i have changed are tps, temp, air charge, and map any clue as to what might be causing this. thanks in advance. mark

start looking for vacuum leaks. Check hoses and around the intake with some carb cleaner. When the idle goes up you've found the leak

Problem like this it's nice to be able to see a data stream to see exactly what the computer is seeing.
You may want to get the codes pulled to see if there is any help there. Is the check engine light on?
I would probably make sure the IAC (idle air control) motor is working. The comp will raise the idle when cold. Even when warm if you shut the car off & restart it the idle should go high & then come down. The IAC always resets for a cold start when the engine is shut off. If the throttle body is dirty, you should get a little brush & some throttle body cleaner & clean it out real good.

thanks for your reply, autozone put a scanner on it and the map sensor came up and an o2 sensor, i figured i would try the map sensor first. but after reading this reply and some other research, i'm going to replace my iac valve and give the throttle body a good cleaning, and the service engine light has never came on. thanks, we will see what happens........mark.

Since you did have a MAP code in there, one thing I would do is inspect the gromment it goes into and make sure the gromment is in good shape, not split or cracked.....
It would take a scanner or scope to check the sensor to make sure it's working properly but if there is a vacuum leak at the sensor or a bad sensor this could also cause this type of problem.......
Until you get this 1st problem solved I would hold off on the O2s a lot of times with running problems the O2 codes are just a by product of the original problem. There are ways to test the O2s while other problems are happening but then again that takes expensive equipment........
