I have a 1999 blazer S10 4.3 2door that runs awesome...when it runs. When I acquired it I was told it only starts once in a while and most likely it was the fuel pump. Well, that was it...I put a fuel pump in it, started right up and ran great ( oh btw, my gas gauge doesn't work and it SUCKS!, goes from E to full to 3/4, etc. but thats a diff story.)

So i was driving it for a couple months running great, cept for the AC and the gas gauge when one day it didn't start....i went out later that night and it started right up....next day it started up and everything was ok.....i decided to get a fuel filter because that sounded like what the problem was and they are cheap, and what would it hurt to put in right?

We got the fuel filter in and its still not starting....when we put a dab of gas in the throttle body it starts fine till it runs out after a couple seconds.....so that's my problem now....new fuel pump, new fuel filter......not starting.

oh and about the gas gauge, my friend who i bought the truck from said the gauge stopped working long before he had problems with the fuel pump...another friend thinks its in the dash, and NOT the float on the new fuel pump.

I'm mainly focused on getting the truck started than the gas gauge, i have been monitoring what i put in.

I really look forward to any help and advice and look forward to browsing around here. Thanks so much in advance.....................Nate.

Your going to have to test the circuit and find out if the pump is receiving power and ground during the first 2 seconds of "key on". If you have to take that pump out again, this time change the fuel sender too.

thanks for the reply....

just today my friend (family friend and mechanic) unhooked the fuel pump from the fuel filter and i turned the key to on (didnt crank it), and drip drip drip drip....gas was coming right out so he looks up at me and says "TOLD you its not your pump" (since we had recently replaced it)....so apparently the fuel pump is good, sending the fuel through the new filter and its just not going all the way.....he said something about a regulator....maybe its some kind of wiring or computer issue not allowing fuel in or something?

What he did means nothing at all. This is a high pressure system and can only be tested using a fuel pressure gauge. It requires a minimum of 55PSI to run

If gas is just dripping out of the that line with KOEO or cranking then that's a problem.

I would follow HTs advise.
