2001 silverado 1500hd 4wd Sign In

Unsure please help i have a 2001 silverado and it wont go in 4wd . when i push the button 4lo you can feel it going into low but no 4wd

if the click you hear is under the cab thats the transfer case shift motor shifting you in. But the front axle is probably not locking in. I think the full size trucks use an electric motor in the axle for this. Check for power when t-case is shifted in.

 if it shifts in to 4low but not 4hi it is most likely the motor on the t-case or possibly the tcase controll module or both it is not uncommon for one to take out the other .not a problem with the front axle locking in on the front diff.. can be a pain to diag. if it is shift motor on the t-case i suggest going with a new one from GM. i have ran in to problems with the aftermarket ones and have had to go through a few before getting a good one.
