Have replaced Fan, Thermostat, Sensor, relay, Radiator, PCM (computer). When car reaches temp. that fan should come on it doesn't. After putting last purchase in (PCM) drove car 2-3 miles, ran great, pulled in drive let idle for few minutes with air on, when fan should have come on it didn;t and car went hot right away. Fan would not come back on. Could this be a short? If so...how do I problem solve this on my own. Other ideas appreciated too...

What temp are you expecting the fan to come on? Does it come on with the A/C on? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Fan ran with Ac on for a few minutes, when car started to over heat we turned off car and the fan would not come back on after that. Seems to be some type of misconnection ....maybe . We've tried everything else so I'm running out of ideas. (an parts to replace) I hear 2001 and 2002 PT's have a overheating problem (on other forums) but no one seems to have the answer.

All the way to the red. Car has never been allowed to get to the "boiled over" point. Head gaskets have been checked they are fine, as is water pump.

What you need to do is actually monitor the temp using a laser thermometer to see how high it's really going. You have a 2 speed fan system and even low speed isn't programmed to come on until 206 degrees and high speed at 218 degrees. It's possible you have a problem with the low speed relay and it's skipping right over that speed but it should see high speed when it reaches 218.

That doesn't mean anything. You have to test things, not throw parts at it.
