Hey, I'm in Nova Scotia. I have a 2004 Cavalier 2.2L..can't get my car to turn over. Started this morning, but really rough, like its not getting enough spark. If I try to drive it it wants to stall out on me. So I put new plugs in it today and now it won't start. Put some gas in it because its on E, but still won't start. I did put injector cleaner in it yesterday, but it was really low on gas, so I hope I didn't cause any damage. Checked the oil for antifreeze and found none, so I don't think its the head gasket. Could it be the O2 sensor? Fuel pump?Timing chain? Just some possible problems I came across online. It just started yesterday out of nowhere. Anyways, if you could help, that'd be great...any idea what it might be and what costs/time it would take? Appreciate it, thanks

linwood; I would assume that NS is rather cold this time of year? Do you have a check engine light on? If so, have the trouble code or codes retrieved and post them for us. My 'gut' instinct would be to check the CTS (coolant temp sensor). Could be causing and over-fueling condition that would match your symptoms? What did the spark plugs look like when you pulled them? Were they wet? Black and sooty?

check engine light has been on for over a year now..i'm hoping to get the codes checked tomorrow...2 of the 4 bosch plugs i took out were more burnt than the others...i put new NGK plugs in, but no go...don't see how i could've screwed up putting them in either..like i said, i also put in injector cleaner in a really low tank..any problems there? it'll be interesting to pinpoint whats going on

Glad to hear that you didn't use Bosch again. I wouldn't put them in my lawnmower. Which two plugs looked bad? (cylinder numbers) Your '04 has misfire detection. Have the trouble codes retrieved and post them. Most parts stores will do this for free. Don't buy any parts, yet.
Although the injector cleaner you buy in a can is virtually worthless, I doubt that it would 'cause' a problem. Make sure that the firing order is correct...that you didn't get a couple of spark plug wires crossed.

the 04 2.2L is an ecotec engine that comes with a cover that fits over the plug ends and is bolted in place..no wires crossed

it was the ignition module and coil...car runs great again..any way to avoid it happening again?

Suggestion: All newer vehicles want a dependable battery and voltage delivery or whacked stuff can happen. IMO batteries over 3 years old you ayor,
