2007 Saturn Aura XE 3.5L Roughly 37,500 Miles I bought this Saturn Aura 3 weeks ago, Certified Pre-Owned. It runs great on the side streets and roads, but every MORNING when I get onto the highway the car starts to vibrate like I am driving on a flat tire, the wheel shakes terribly, and I can hear the sound of the tire from the front right, always. I have brought it in 4 times to the dealership. They have replaced a tire, put it on a balance machine, new rotors/brakes, new power steering rack, they also switched my front and rear tires and the vibration was still there... Every time I take it in, they say they never get the vibration, and I even drove with them and it didn't vibrate, it only does it in the morning, never after it's been driven for a while. (Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but it's something I noticed) It ONLY starts when I am going 70-80 mph, and will continue to shake terribly until I come to a complete stop. Thing is, when the shaking starts, and I apply a small amount of pressure to the brakes, my wheel shakes REALLY bad back and forth. Oh yeah! Both rims on the right side have damage to them, like someone hit a pot hole, and they had to fix my alignment, they are claiming the rims do not need to be replaced. I am under warranty until 48,000 miles, and had tire/wheel insurance, soooooo I want to get this fixed! HELP!

the wheel might have loose lug nuts and cuase a vibration or you may have a rim that doesnt work for your car and has a gap(forgot the name for it) between the mounting surface and the back of the rim. or even a slightly bent axle. The strange thing about the problem you are having, if I understand you correctly is that it is a cold soak condition meaning it only happens in the morning or when the vehicle can sit long enough to reach ambient temp. This throws so many normal frt end, brk & wheel scenarios out the window there almost isn't anything left.. The best thing to do would probably leave the vehicle over night at the shop and then either let them drive it or if you want to go along, meet them there (if you do go, go easy on the tech when it happens, this isn't a normal problem so once it happens, don't expect an answer immediately) You say you hear something from the RF, since they have rotated & replaced tires, if the noise or vibration hasn't moved, that would eliminate the tires & wheels. I would probably be looking at a bearing or axle but again, those aren't cold soak failures, if anything they would get worse as they heated up.... There are a couple of TSBs out but neither really cover your problem exactly. one is 01-05-23-001B concerning rotor lateral runout (you would feel all the time when brking) & 07-03-10-013C concerning wheel vibration (again you would feel all the time at speeds between 45 & 60mph) If I've got any of this wrong let me know and this is a strange problem, please let us know what you find out, you have me very curious.....

Thanks to the both of you for your reply! Yesterday it did it on the way to work and on the way home, I also noticed the vibration still on the city streets after the car was warm, but not as bad (my wheel would vibrate back and forth slightly when braking) I have left my car overnight and 2 mechanics have driven it home and then back to work, whom both live my highways. It vibrates while driving, and then when little pressure is applied to the brakes the wheel shakes terribly back and forth. The dealership keeps telling me this is the last resort, and I understand how they are coming to a stop if they truly aren't feeling the vibration, but it happens every time with me. The 2 times I had a mechanic with me it didn't do it OF COURSE! :) The last resort for me is to replace the car since I haven't been able to drive it a full week myself since I bought it, its been in the shop.

I'm at a loss on this one. I'm sure they've gone over the frt end... a few times. I'm thinking a bad bushing or cracked hub maybe, from your post it sounds like it may be getting worse, if that is the case, it may help to locate the problem.... Maybe check your options...... It's only 3 weeks old, see what kind of a deal they would be willing to work with you on a trade... As a last resort for repair.... Leave it with them for a week and have a tech drive it like it's his for the week.. put some miles on it. If you can't go a full week without the problem, then he shouldn't be able to either..... If he can then obviously the car is haunted & angry with you. Maybe they can hook you up with a loaner......... I hope you fix this one.......I really want to know the problem.....

Yes, well, I am feeling the only solution is for the trade :) I am having my dad call today, he co-signed on the loan. So he is going to try and get things done with it. I will let you know the outcome. Thanks for all your help!
