89 Chevy Camaro

89 Camaro, 2.8L, v6 - I changed the fuelfilter, the oxygen sensor, plugs, plug wires, dist. cap, and rotor. When the engine warms up, the car will buck once in a while but not all the time, at idle and I step on the throttle there is a hesitation, and when I give it more than 1/2-3/4 throttle it bogs down. There is no check engine light on however there is a service engine soon light on. I was wondering if this would be injectors or maybe even the timing. Any help would be greatfully accepted.

To be honest I do not know. I assume I need to hook it up to a computer for this, correct? I do not have the means to do this at this time so I was hoping somone may know without the codes.

No, that's why they have a self diagnostic system. you have to have a starting point however you don't necessarily need a scan tool for that car. Diagnostic Trouble Codes - 1989 Chevrolet 13 Open Oxygen Sensor Circuit 14 Coolant Temperature Sensor (High Temp Indicated) 15 Coolant Temperature Sensor (Low Temp Indicated) 21 Throttle Position Sensor (Signal Voltage High) 22 Throttle Position Sensor (Signal Voltage Low) 23 Manifold Air Temperature (MAT) Low Temp Indicated 24 Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Circuit 25 Manifold Air Temperature (MAT) High Temp Indicated 32 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Circuit 33 Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Circuit (High Sig.) 34 Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Circuit (Low Sig.) 42 Electronic Spark Timing (EST) Circuit 43 Electronic Spark Control (ESC) Circuit 44 Oxygen Sensor Circuit (Lean Exhaust Indicated) 45 Oxygen Sensor Circuit (Rich Exhaust Indicated) 51 Faulty PROM 52 Fuel CALPAK Error or Missing 54 Fuel Pump Circuit (Low Voltage) 55 55 ECM Error To extract a trouble from the computer for diagnostic purposes, the Assembly Line Communication Link (ALDL) connector is used. Ground terminals A and B with the ignition "ON" and engine not running. The system will enter the diagnostic mode. In this mode, the computer will display a 12, three consecutive times, by flashing the "CHECK ENGINE", "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" or "MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP" or light. A 12 consists of one flash, a short pause, then two flashes in rapid succession. After 12 is displayed, any stored trouble s will be displayed by flashing the "CHECK ENGINE", "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" or "MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP" light. All s are displayed 3 times each then a 12 will repeat. In the diagnostic mode, the computer will also energize all computer controlled relays and solenoids. I just want to make sure I understand correctly, Do I need one of these connectors in order to ground terminals A and B, or is there another way to ground it in order to get the trouble codes. I am sorry and I appreciate your help, I just don't quite understand exactly what I need in order to accomplish this. I assume I need this connector is so that I get some sort of read out or where else would it display the read out or am I reading this wrong? Thank you for your assistance.

I have a stupid box with proper prongs that I'm near certain is only putting the two terminals together with the key on, engine off the light blinks as Hammer said and you count the blinks of the CEL or SES ( that damn light ) which starts with it's connected, code 12 and then will give you three in a row of other #s and back to the 12 when complete. You can buy the plug in box which is just a jumper as said which comes with a book which you are really paying for to determine what the codes mean, T

Thank you so much for your help. I adjusted the timing, it was off, and if I undersand the flashes correctly, I beleive I do, it flashed 22, 33, and 34. I assume I will need to replace the throttle position sensor(22), however what does it mean when it is the manifold absolute pressure sensor circuit both high and low signal(33 & 34)?

Manifold Actual Pressure (MAP) is actually vacuum. It's a technicality but we don't live or drive in a vacuum so anything above 29.92 Hg (total vacuum) is pressure Codes are a direction to lead not always the perfeck (on purpose) answer. MAP issues could be vacuum leaks as a source cause resulting in a confused MAP sensor, T
