At the end of the CV shaft, where it goes into the transaxle, there is a circlip. If you have already purchase the new shaft, take a look at it and you'll see to what I'm referring. Sometimes, it is real tough to get that circlip to collapse while trying to remove the CV shaft. There is a special tool, shaped like a huge "C" that is inserted between the inner CV housing and the transaxle, then connected to a slide hammer. Only a couple of times have I had to revert to it's use, though. You may be able to rent this tool at a parts store? Usually, though, a quick hard 'snap' with a LARGE pry bar is all it takes to get the axle out. Just be real careful what you use for your lever point. The transaxle is made of alluminum. Installing is no big deal. Just make sure the axle is fully seated into the transaxle. A sharp blow with a rubber mallet on the outer end is usually all that's needed. Good luck.
