94 GMC truck vibration

I have a 94 GMC 1500, just changed the 3 sets of original u-joints on it. Took it for a test run and now I have a vibration between 40 and 60 Kmh then it disappears. I didn't change the steady bearing as it was still tight and made sure the slip joint was in the spline right. The balance weights are still there on the front drive shaft but the vibration is a concern. Any help would be great. First time this has ever happened doing u-joints..

Are you sure you didn't knock down one of the needle bearings so it's stuck under the end of the cap? Did you have to really fight with any of them to get it all the way together? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

No fight getting the new ones in, I took sandpaper and cleaned them all out first, checked all the u-joints were moving freely before I installed the drive shafts and then the vibration, just doesn't make any sense. Will put it up on stands tomorrow and run it to see if I can tell where it's coming from, front or back. maybe I can see it not sure..

Did you hit against or clamp the shaft in a vise when you did this? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Nope hung the end of the drive shafts over a 2 x 4 and punched them out. New ones went in easy with a little tapping and a socket the same size.

I have to believe this is a tire vibration for some reason. A driveline vibration usually won't go away at higher speeds but a tire will. I could tell by the pitch of the vibration if I drove it but unfortunately I can't do that. It sounds like you did everything right putting it together.

I'll look tomorrow after it stops raining. It seems to be coming from underneath though, doesn't seem to be coming from a tire. I'll advise after I get it up tomorrow and run it at speed, thanks for the help though, two heads are always better than one ...
