Unsure of the Engine Size as the car is not with me
~165,000 Miles

I hope this is in the right forum, here is my question:

Recently the Wheel attached to my AC unit froze up, not allowing the driveshaft to turn. The belt that is attached to the AC, is attached to the Driveshaft, the AC, and the Power Steering.
I took the belt off, and I am able to drive just fine, as there is another belt going to the alternater. The only problem is no power steering (I am not concerned with the AC as it has not worked for a few years).
I am just wondering if driving with this belt dissenganged would cause any problems to my engine, untill i am able to get the bearings replaced on my AC wheel.
Driving without power steering is not very difficult because the car is fairly small, I am only concerned with damaging the engine or its components with prolonged (2+ weeks of driving) use without the belt in use.

If more info is needed I can provide.
Thanks for your time,
Damian

Can't tell you anything without the engine size as far as what else would be effected but driving the car that has power steering with it disconnected will damage the power steering.

The engine size is 1.8L

Driving it around the block without the belt on resulted on nothing out of the ordinary except loss of power steering.
However if driving it without the belt through the power steering fly wheel will result in permanent damage to the power steering, I will try to get the AC bearings replaced asap.
I will have to drive it a couple of miles to a shop, do you think that the couple of miles would cause damage needing repair?

A short distance isn't bad but it will eventually pump the oil out.

Would it be possible to keep a bottle of Power Steering Fluid at hand, and check the fluid stick often, and fill as needed?
Or would the fluid not be pumped back into the system? If there is a way I can drive this to and from work untill payday I need too.

Also thank you very much for your info, it is exaclty what I needed to know.

No, you shouldn't derive a power steering car with no belt for any length of time.
