98 Pontiac Sunfire Overheating, please help!

98 Pontiac Sunfire Overheating, please help!

Ok, so I have replaced my thermostat in the car to make sure it wasn't getting stuck. Then I had the smart idea to turn on the car with the A/C at max to see if the radiator cooling fan would kick on. It didn't. So I took a screwdriver and spun the blades on the fan a little bit. The fan started up. So what does this mean? Does it mean the fan motor needs replaced?

It means you have a bad fan motor.
We do the same thing sometimes to diagnose that.

We do the same thing sometimes to diagnose that.
I prefer to use my fingers... You know...that personal touch....
Only problem is I'm only going to be able to do this a few more times & then have to come up with a different method.....

I guess that depends on how long your fingers were when you started. You should be able to get 3 or 4 cuts before you reach nubs.

Bad news, replaced the motor with a brand new one, still doing the same thing. You think there is a short? The horn isn't working either and I can hear a clicking sound every once in awhile like something is trying to turn on.

If you pushed the fan blade and it caused the motor to start, that pretty much points at nothing but a motor unless it wasn't you that started the motor.

It still isn't turning on when the AC is on or temp gets high. What should I try next?

Check for power and ground arriving at the motor.
