98 kia sephia, I recently had to replace the rear drums because the bearings had fallen out and the drums were in bad shape. I put used drums on and when I tighten the nut on the axle to secure the drum, the wheel does not turn and if I put it loose enough that the wheel will turn then everything is too loose. I had to manually adjust the adjustment for the brakes in order to get new shoes on and so the drum would slide over the brakes and the brakes are not working properly and there is a lot of noise on the rear end. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not too familiar with the car myself, but are you saying this is an integrated hub/drum unit with a bearing pressed into it? Or does this have the servicable bearings that need to be adjusted through torque/rotation? I would have to say from lack of details that your problem most likely lies in the choice of used parts. I use junkyard stuff only in a few areas, and brakes or wheel bearings aren't one of them. Its asking for trouble from something that needs to work every time. Especially when the original parts were so cheaply slapped together to make the car have such a low price, to reuse them is like asking satan to be your roommate. Nothing good will come of it.

Gotta ask: What the heck happened that bearings FELL OUT! Something's fishy with that as they can fail, usually one at a time. If they truly fell out there would likely be a lot of brake parts damaged - not just the drums. Used brake parts isn't a good idea IMO and TMK not legal in all places. Too many variables for too important stuff,
