Got into car this morning, put the key into the ignition, the alarm went off (this has never happened before), and the car would not start (no sound no nothing). So I messed with the doors and locks for a while only to have the alarm continue to sound. Next, I popped the hood and pulled the wire going to the alarm speaker, then disconnected the battery. After letting it sit for a few min., I hooked the battery back up. As soon as I re opened the car door the alarm went off again, no sound because I disconnected the speaker, but I could see the light flashing, and the car still would not start (no sound, no nothing). Then I found instructions on how to bypass the alarm with the valet switch and followed them to no avail. Next step was to take off the panel under the steering weal and take out the alarm itself. I ended up taking out 5 pieces, a key card box that said locktronics on it, a audiovox motion sensor, a main box which had all the other boxes connected to it, a toggle valet switch and a wire connected to the main box on one end and a little box on the other (don’t know the name of it but it’s a little square box that you can pull in and out to change like a fuse). The locktronics keycard box had a yellow wire going in on one side on out the other, so I cut the two wires took the box out and spliced them back together. The wires coming from the other boxes were connected to the factory wires via a harness/splice, so I removed those. I also cut 2 ground wires to the alarm boxes, and a wire going to the alarm horn under the hood. Now with the key in the second position I have no power to my radio, and the windshield wipers don’t work, when I turn the key all the way the car still won’t start (no sound no nothing). I have power to everything else on my dash and inside the car; I have also checked the starter fuse and put in a different battery. I am lost at this point and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. More info: Car is a 98 Dodge Grand Caravan. Both the battery and starter are less than 1 year old. The car was running perfectly 2 hours prior to all this mess, never had the alarm go off, and never a problem starting the car.

You'll need to find out the manufacturer and model of the alarm and get the install info and diagrams from them. This is an aftermarket alarm and only the maker of it will have the info for you to figure out how to remove it. These can be real nightmares. Right now, stop cutting wires and trying jumpers. This is perfect conditions to start a fire or fry something expensive. You need to have the manufacturer info before proceeding any further.

Nick has some pretty good advise..... Since........You're already into it ........ Most of the AM alarms I remove about the only wire they cut is the yellow starter wire, everything else just gets tapped into...... Remove whatever you did to splice the yellow wire together, bare the 2 ends, twist them together and see if it starts. As far as the jumpers you removed, inspect the factory wires real good and make sure it didn't cut them in half.... If none of this pans out you are going to have to start from scratch and treat it like a basic no start/no crank. I may be tempt to cheat just a tad and check out the ign sw real quick just due to Chry's track record and the events leading up to this but after that, square one & don't skip a step... On some Chry factory systems....... you need to either turn the lights on to the park mode or pull the switch & hold it to high beams.....Try that 1st just for the heck of it....... Oh.....by the way.......Thx for the fonts..... man that was nice..........
