Apologies if this is the wrong section. I was wondering if manual cars can be converted to automatic transmission? If so, at what cost? May I also ask if anyone has heard of a car that has both park assist as well as auto transmission? Thank you in advance.

Just about anything can be done given enough cash to throw at it but it's certainly not a practical thing to attempt. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Thank you What I would be interested in is a car that has both park assist as well as auto transmission. However I'm not sure they exist so the next best thing would be to convert a manual, park assist car to automatic. If they exist problem solved lol. What would be the cost of conversion? Thanks.

I would agree with HT on this one. I've seen it done, but on old rear wheel drive stuff by people who weren't too worried about the looks and just needed to use what parts they had laying around. Once you get into computer controlled years it would be cheaper to just go buy a car that had the automatic in it. Park assist? A car has three mirrors and a driver has two eyes. Thats all the assistance anyone every should need and it was plenty good enough for the first 100 years that cars were on the road. If you need a computer in a car to park the thing for you, you don't know how to drive and should get a bus pass or a well-trained horse. Park assist is only offered on the better product lines, and only on models with automatic transmissions. There is no stick shift version that has is. The cars don't come cheap. For a lot less money you can buy some orange cones, go to a parking lot and practice until you figure out how to do it.

You are talking about a very high tech, integrated computer controlled system. Don't think you are going to go in there and create a Frankenstein system that would actually work. You have no idea the level of technology that you are involving here. You would have an easier time building a space orbiter in your garage.

A minute ago you were trying to convert a manual to automatic I was wondering if manual cars can be converted to automatic transmission? Now you are converting from auto to manual? Can you believe I know people who actually converted their autos to manual No I'm not enquiring about converting from auto to manual. What I'm saying is I know other people with automatic cars who converted them to manual. I always tell them I can't believe they did that. Sorry for the confusion.

When you state parking assist, do you mean the radar collision avoidance system? Or are you meaning the automatic parallel parking system? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

LMAO - If anyone needs parking assistance (from the car) they should consider riding in the passenger's seat and let someone who can drive do it. Sounds like something for MA drivers. No joke, look up the MassDOT driving test application PDF on line. It has a box to check if you are legally blind! Says if you check that box you MAY be declined to take the driving test! T

I like this one. Radio Shack's universal parking assist system. Part #00878. It plugs right into the cigar lighter. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
