On my 2000 Dodge Neon, i can put my key in the driver side door and it just turns freeley bud doesn't lock or unlock the door, i have to reach in through the passenger side to unlock it. (it doesn't have power locks) A few days ago i told my buddy about it and him and I pulled the door panel & trim and he played around with some of the cables in there and it worked good until today, when it seems like it must have slipped off again. I was wondering if anybody knew what I could do to get it to work again? Thanks, -Jim

UPDATE: I took off the door panel and found that the clip that goes on the inside of the door lock slipped off again, i was able to put it back on, but it looks like there should be something to hold in on to prevent it from slipping off? I wasn't able to find anything inside of the door, i was going to try using some sort of small cotter pin or small hitch pin. Does anybody have access to a diagram to see if there is some sort of retaining nut or clip to hold this piece on?

I don't have a diagram handy but most of those rods have a plastic clip the end slips into. Once the end is end the whole clip rotates down & snaps onto the rest of the rod to stay in place...... (if that makes any sense)

Just fixed a friend of mines His had an E Clip that held the rod and arm to the lock cylinder. 19 cents at Menards. Click on above to see image

alright thanks for the help guys!, i ended up getting it working, it looks like there should be an E clip there since theres a little grove for something on it. i couldn't find the original E clip it had in the door, so i just used a tiny cotter pin and bent it around so it should hold pretty good. Sidom: it does have some groves that make it fit over the lock cylinder a certain way but once it's on it doesn't rotate, but like i said i just used that cotter pin so it should prevent it from slipping off. Again thank's for your help!
