Faulty Gas Gauge
Just bought a 2000 Chevy S-10 Blazer,4.3L with 133,000miles. My gas gauge is not displaying the correct amount of fuel in the tank. When driving, needle stays at 3/4 of a tank. When first starting,it shows empty. The vehicle runs fine. No idling issues,no sputtering. Just can't tell exact fuel amount. Any help? Please. Steven

That's probably a bad sending unit in the tank. You would need specific resisters to accurately test the rest of the system but if you just ground the purple wire and momentarily turn the key on. it should shoot to max full. if it does, i would replace the sender. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I agree, its the sending unit in the tank,Your GM dealer does make an additive that cleans corrosion & sufler deposits off of the windings on the unit but its a bit salty, like $28.bucks a bottle but we have over a 50% sucess rate with so you can give that a go if you want, some say even good injectors will do the same but i've not had much luck with them..good luck
