Ford Sign In

1998 ford taurus se - with 109K miles. Making a very loud humming noise - steering is very loose - leaking something - i would guess power steering fluid. How bad is it?

Re: Ford Sign In

Just a wild guess sounds like you popped a leak in one of the power steering components. Hoses are common but it could be nearly anything in the system. It will have to be inspected to determine where the fluid went. You can add some more and see if it immediately leaks back out or not.

Re: Ford Sign In

also dont prolong the repair because replacing a line can turn into replacing the pump also
