Front Coil Spring Replacement Sign In

I own a 2000 Olds Alero Coupe and the passenger front coil spring broke. I ordered the parts to replace it but is there any advice as to how to best and safely replace it?

You need a strut spring compressor and need to remove the strut from the car. Click here for more information.

If you cannot get access to the spring compressor tool as mentioned by W20,what you can do to is to remove the strut assy, take it to a shop to have the old spring taken off and the new one installed.
Try places like Pep boys,Firestones,Goodyears..they all should do it for you.

Another thing ,"Gabriel" Came out with complete replacement strut assemblies..they come complete with new strut, new spring and strut bearing...come assembled already...Just remove the old one and install the new one....
Dont know for sure if they have for your year /model,but check with Autozone..they do sell them....
>>>>> Replace them in pairs tho...both fronts ..don't just do the one side .....<<<<<<<,

Remember, the vehicle needs to have an alignment performed after the repairs...regardless of which way you go.
