Fuel Pump Replacement Sign In

96 Ford Windstar
3.8
200k

So I'm about to take on the task of changing the fuel pump in my wifes windstar. The tank is held by two large metal straps. One of the straps is bolted to frame, I can simply unbolt them to remove it. The other stap though has no bolts but instead looks like it is mounted by being hung into a slot on each end. Anyone have any idea how to remove this strap? Any help on this whole procedure would be greatly apreciated... Thanks

Both straps are hung from the frame on one side but both are bolted at the other end. The straps are the easy part. You still have to get all the hoses, lines and wires off while the tank is semi-lowered without spilling fuel everywhere. Unless you have a lift and a transmission jack, this is not an easy job at all.

Re: Fuel Pump Replacement Sign In

I'm away from my database & it's been a while since I had to do one of those but I believe you also have to loosen the exhaust & pull it to one side.....

Definitely not a job I'd want to doing on my back....... But then again I'm getting so old there's not much left that I would do on my back anymore....

(yea I left that door wide open)
