I've got a 2003 Honda CRV and I can't find the wiring harness to plug in a trailer wiring kit. The manual saying it is on the left side of the cargo area behind the panel but I don't see it. Any ideas?

I just looked up a wiring diagram for the exterior lighting and according to it the trailer lighting connector is “behind left rear quarter panel” It’ll have six wires to it, the only thing it doesn’t tell us is whether you get at it from the outside or the inside of the vehicle? If your trailer wiring kit is a after market it may not have the proper connector to match up? Just a side note; in case you’re not looking on the proper side, the left side of the vehicle is as if you were sitting in the vehicle facing forward. Sorry if you already knew that but it’s happened to me so many times that a customer has asked me to replace something like the right headlight. I go to the vehicle too check and sure enough the left headlight is the one not working. When they were standing in front of the vehicle, looking at the headlights, it was the one to their right that wasn’t working. Dan. Canadian "EH"

There's an installation instruction sheet that I have, but can't find the original .pdf file to send to you, just have the print-out I made. Anyway, yes, it's behind the left rear interior trim panel. The steps to get access are 1) fold up the seats, 2) flip up the rear mat and take out the table 3) take out the cargo storage bin (just lifts right out), 4) pull the rear weatherstripping out along the sill (but not all the way around!) 5) remove the rear sill trim panel (there are two clips you can see on the inside, plus several hidden underneath, just pull up until the let go), 6) remove the left rear door sill trim (yes, really) 7) remove the tie down ring on the left side, plus the two accessory hooks on that side, 8) pry up the back of the left read side trim panel 9), fish out the connector that is taped with blue tape to the other wiring, 10) attach the wiring harness, 11) run in out of the car through the left side hole in the rear of the cargo area by removing the plastic plus. That's the thumbnail sketch, at least. Good luck!

Yea when I went to the thread, I didn’t remember writing that replay. Well at the least we know that the archives are intact? LOL Sorry guest not making fun; it’s just that it’s a dead thread, the original poster didn’t even bother to reply too his/her own question. You did give a good rely; so why not register and join in. Knowing who you are; as in a user name; will get you more attention/respect; I know I look at them with a different attitude. Even though it’s likely a made up name; you’re not just another “guest” in the crowd. Dan. Canadian "EH"

I found my connection behind the left rear speaker (in the cargo area). Just take the cover of the speaker out, and the speaker. Be extra careful, because the trailer wiring plug is taped right to the back of the speaker.

Can you see how confusing it can get when you have more than one guest in a conversation? It would be much better if you registered and logged in so you would have an identity and be able to use private messages. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Guys, I for some reason have got a 7 pin trailer wiring connector behind my left speaker. And it is also just a little bigger than the 6-pin connector plug (which has 5 wires that go to 4-way flat trailer plug) So, I just can't plug the connector I bought and need to match the wires. Who can help me figure out which wires are responsible for what functions? I have got 6 wires in a 7-pin connector on a car side: - Green wire w/ yellow stripe, - Black, - Red wire w/ yellow stripe, - Green wire w/ white stripe, - Red wire w/ green stripe, - Green wire w/ red stripe. I need to match 6 wires on a car side to 5 wires on a harness (white, yellow, brown, green, etc.) side. Thanks for help.
