My son has a 2004 Chevy Malibu Classic and last evening he called as he was stuck at work and it wouldn't start. He had run his battery down trying so we jumped the battery and it would turn over perfect but sounded like no spark. He had called AAA and they agreed no spark and checked and it had fuel, so he had it towed to the local shop we use.

Today the shop went to the car and it cranked right up and since it was working they couldn't test to see what was wrong. In speaking with my son he said when it's raining his car sometimes does this but usually it will start after a while.

Don't want to have to wait for him to be stranded again to try to diagnose problem (we read the intro message but we need to try to fix this before he's stranded), but it's odd it won't get spark when it's raining/humid out. Main problem is this is Florida and this time of year it rains just about every day.

Suggestions and comments gladly welcomed

Thanks.Smile

These ones can be tough to find...... They always start right up when you have your equipment handy ready to find the problem..just like when it stops hurting once you get into the Dr's office.

What you can do is pop the hood and take a look around to see if there is any evidence of water getting on any electrical connections...If you see something, clean it and shield it as best as you can & see if that helps....

My data base is down at the moment so I can't check for TSBs, but maybe someone will take a look at theirs and see if there is any water intrusion TSBs.... Who knows maybe you'll get lucky....

We'll see if we can check that, maybe "make it rain" by spraying the car with a garden hose, it happens after it's been parked in the rain, not driven in the rain. Was thinking of changing the distributor cap and rotor, and was thinking about the ignition coil until we saw it cost around $200. Any hint or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
