Motor blown after going through water? Sign In

Today I went through water in my 99 Dodge Caravan that ended up being MUCH higher than I thought. The van died while going through the water. I pushed it out of the water and it still wouldn't start. After maybe a half hour I got it started but it was "rapping" very bad. Towed it home and checked the oil and it was full of water. Changed the oil and it still is rapping very bad. Do you think that I blew up the motor?

Please just post once. TMK the air pickup snorkel on these was a bit too low. Even a strong puddle can destroy the engine which it sounds is pretty certain. Bummer! Think good used if you fix it at all,

I have to agree with Tom on this. Sounds like the engine ingested water and bent some rods......
