Im looking into getting a 97 Ford Expedition and the guy said it just needs a tune up and timing. DOes anyone have an average price range on the timing? Thank you. If you need more info let me know and i will try to help.Tongue

There is no timing adjustment on that vehicle and the term "tune up" doesn't apply. That's a coil on plug system. If it's the timing chain that has a problem, then your talking "big bucks". It can run well over $1,000 to change the timing chains on that engine.
They do have a lot of coil failures though. Even changing the spark plugs can run over $400 on that truck.

That is a huge red flag for me..... When someone comes in wanting the "timing set" it almost always means there is something going on they can't figure out.........

If it's running poorly.... Tell him to do the tune up & set the timing to make it run good & then you'll buy it..........
