I have a ford ka year 2004. 1.3 engine 23000 mileage. We had very heavy rain a few days ago. the next day when i opened the car i found that the footwell on the drivers' side was soaking wet. Its also wet under the drivers' seat. I noticed that there is a small gap on the join on the door seal on that side. I know it seems quite obvious what the problem is, but do you think it could be something more sinister? What do you think? hopefully i'll only have to replace the door seal.

If you can see a flaw in the seal it's certainly something to deal with. Some cars you can adjust or bend the door's frame a touch (best if done professionally) to tighten gaps.

I suggest to look at how to lift the carpet and allow it to really dry out well or that could haunt you with odor or rust unseen for a while then be a real pest to fix,
