Where to buy bulk motor oil.
Greetings all. I am looking to buy "bulk" motor oil. The auto parts stores where I am range from 1.99 a quart to 3.49. I am in college and I started giving oil changes to help pay bills. My cost is approx. 12-13 bucks a change 8-10 for oil and 3-5 for a filter. Business picked up so I want to cut costs. Does any one know of a website or phone number of a supplier? I'm looking for a small amount maybe 500 quarts to start of conventional -only API certified- oil. I can pick up any where in NYC or CT. Everything is legal I don't dump oil. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping for the low 1 dollar range per quart. Thanks

You could probably check with the local lube shops to get a number of a supplier, Not sure about NY but in CA you need the propber EPA & other agency certs to handle that kind of quanity..... Also I'm sure you are aware of the different viscosity requirements of the new engines.....so you would need a few different selections......subbing 10/30 for a engine the requires 5/20 or 5/30 would be doing a huge disservice....basically you would be starving the top end for oil & giving it a slow death....

Thanks for the reply. I posted on the net because lube joints don't like to give their supplier's information to people who are taking their business away. As for the different viscosities, I'm currently running around getting oil and filers for each individual vehicle so I buy the correct one(s), I would get probably mostly 5w-30 some 5w-20 and a little 10w-30. If you know of a supplier or a different way to get ahold of one, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Seriously - If you have a favorite oil and filter just contact them and they should make it easy for you. I once thought of buying bulk - space and other headaches stopped me for what didn't seem to add up to enough savings for the aggrevation of it. I'm all done with any biz end of this but bulk buying for oil sure would make recycling of it easier if nothing else, T

We buy 10/30 Valvoline, 100 gallons at a time, and are paying $2.67qt. I just got a notice from our supplier that the price was going to go down, first time in 30 yrs, but didn't say how much. Personally, I use Amsoil 10/30 in both my vehicles. We have several customers that have switched over to Amsoil, as well. Something you might consider for your customers. You will be doing them a 'service'. Many times over a better lubricant than conventional motor oil. Loren SW Washington
