I have a 94 z-71 Chevy p.u. 350.I can drive it all day but at some point when it gets hot,when I kill it.it will not start until something cools down. I have replaced 2 starters,a distributor,and taken off a kill switch that was on it.Any ideas?

NO,I'LL STOP SOMEWHERE & COME BACK OUT & IT IS DEAD,LIKE NO BATTERY,YET ALL MY LIGHTS,RADIO,ETC. ALL WORK.THERE IS SOMETHING IN THE IGNITION SYSTEM THAT IS GETTING HOT AND WON'T START MY TRUCK TILL IT COOLS DOWN.(LIKE COIL WIRES USED TO DO IN THE 60'S)

I just looked at the wiring diagram and it has to be wrong. It shows the trigger wire (purple) going directly from the ignition switch to the starter which has to be wrong because it has to be tied into a neutral safety switch on an automatic but it doesn't show one. If it's a standard, then it goes through a clutch switch.

You'll have to get someone to help you and test for power arriving at the starter on that purple wire while the key is held in "start" position and not cranking.
