Hi to all, New to your site, hope I can find some help here on not to serious of a question. We own a 2002 hyundai sonata v6.After an oil change service, the service guy said I need a new drive belt.I told him they had replaced it a year ago.He said his records shows they had changed a different belt on the car at that time. Some thing did not sound right so I said no at this time.Got home checked out the owners book,it shows a dohc v6 has two belts and a v6 has but one. Here is the strange part.I check under the hood and the engine shroud has printed on it "DOHC V6 24 VALVE V 6" which I was allways aware of. The manufacture sticker indicates a 500.00 dollar option for the dohc v6. As I only see one serpentine belt from the harmonic balancer to all other pulleys, and no other belts it is obvious they were trying to make some easy money I guess. So if this car only has one belt, and not two for the dohc v6 does this possibly mean it may not be the dohc v6.How would one determine if it is indeed a dohc v6?Thanks to all Paul

the serpentine belt is what drives your accessories (water pump, alternator, power steering and A/C) and is on the exterior of the motor by the fan and radiator. the drive belts and also known as "timing belts" and they are inside the engine behind the front cover. an extensive engine tear down is required to replace these. __________________________________________________ 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2002 Ford Ranger 2004 Toyota Corolla 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1

I show this has only one V6 engine .... a 2.7L ...... It shows only one serpentine drive belt... This vehicle also came with a 4 cylinder...maybe thats where the "option" thing comes in... Here are some pix.. Does the top look anything like these...this is a DOHC engine..second pix is an exploded view of the cams,etc...but it shows the valve covers.....do they look like these?...let me know....
