HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MY 1993 DODGE CONVERSION VAN WONT START.
THE MECHANIC IS BAFFLED. HE SAYS IT IS NOT
GETTING 12 VOLTS TO THE IGNITION COIL. I KNOW
HE TRIED RUNNING A WIRE FROM THE COIL TO THE BATTERY AND IT DID NOT WORK.

The pcm controls the ignition coil, the power is supplied thru ads relay switch and the pcm opens and closes the ground circuit to the coil,.... so just running 12 volts to the coil won't do any good its the negative side of the coil that triggers the spark.

As Dave said running power to the ignition coil won’t go anything if the rest of the system that the auto shutdown (ASD) relay powers, isn’t getting powered up.
Due to a possible open in the dark green/orange wire of the ASD circuit or one of the splices, that split the circuit, to the different parts of the circuit.
The ASD also supplies power to the fuel injectors, O2 sensor heater, alternator field, PCM (computer) and of course the ignition coil.
What your guy needs to do, is check for continuity (connection) of the ASD’s dark green/orange wire between all of the different units that are on this circuit.

While checking for power, at the coil or any other part of this circuit, remind the person working on the van. The ASD only stays on for 2 or 3 seconds after the ignition switch is turned on, without the engine running. In other words the PCM turns the ASD off, if the PCM doesn’t see a RPM signal.

The ASD stays on the same amount of time that the check engine light stays on, when the ignition switch is turn on.

Does the check engine light come on when the ignition is turned on?
Can you here the ASD and the fuel pump relay click on and then off, after the ignition switch is turned on?
