hi i brought a vauxhall omega 1998 yesterday it was fine on the 30 mile drive home (did notice a slight rattle over bumps) we stopped for a short while a couple of times once back and the car started fine . I was waiting for my other half in the car (bout 20 mins without engine running)with headlights on and pressing all the electric buttons to see what they did , i then reset the climate control as we could not seem to get heat, i then notices the electrics warning light on (not actuallhy sure if it had only just come on) tried to start the car and nothing!, got mhy dad to come and jump start the car and it was fine and starts fine today! any idea what happens is it possible the drive home did not charge the car enough to withtand my button pressing? i do not want to get stranded anywhere with two small childern , and is it normal for electrics light to come on if battery is low? vauxhall omega 2.5 v6 auto 4 door saloon 1998

You said you had the key on engine off while playing with the buttons. With the engine not running, you had no charging system. Therefore, you simply ran the battery down. You may want to get the battery load tested. It may be weak if it ran down that low in 20 minutes. Steve

Have the battery tested. Even a battery that is in relatively good condition; but with some age, may not withstand a half hour with all the electric’s on and engine not running. A lead acid battery only has so much capacity to supply power and that capacity slowly diminishes as soon as these batteries are put into service. Dan. Canadian "EH"

Hi Dan. I don't know about that. My mind is becoming toast as I get older. Are you sure you want to put yours in the same category as mine? lol Steve
