I have a Kia Optima 2002 V6 sedan, we had a heavy snow the other day I always clean off my windsheld before turning the wipers on. The next day when I went to turn my wipers on only the drivers side would work. Any one have a fix for this. Is it something I can repair on my own.

Re: windsheld wipers Sign In

the linkage for the passenger side wiper assembly fell off inside the cowl. ive never worked on kia's but if you plan on doing it yourself youll have to find out how to get access to the cowl/wiper area. that is the hard part. otherwise after that you just reattach the linkage and buy a replacement clip(they usually are a flimsy metal spring clip that weakens over time) that holds the linkage.

Not sure for each model of car either but some of these may use a nut to hold down or can be tightened up at the base of the wiper arm to the drive. Some may tighten up again and some will strip out the wiper arm and hopefull not damage more than just that. Gotta just take a look. If you do find you can just tighten it up - make sure it's in the proper position so it doesn't just fly off the windshield and break again or something else,
